Let's get it Right

Lane Reductions on Atlantic

Issue

The beautiful rendering the city mailed to residents has 3 lanes on Westbound Atlantic between Cypress and Dixie.

Reality

The commission voted to reduce the road to 2 lanes. The rendering does not reflect the plan.

McNab Park

Issue

The house was moved in 2020. The plan is to turn McNab park into a botanical garden, restaurant and event space.

Reality

Since 2020, the park has been under-maintained and is in disrepair. Communication about the plan has been limited and important issues like cost and parking are still the subject of much debate.

Parking on Atlantic

Issue

The proposed streetscape on Atlantic Blvd between Cypress and SE 18th reduces lane widths, sidewalks and parking

Reality

There is not enough space to do everything the City is proposing. The bike lane is 5 ft from entryway doors and parking spaces are reduced to 7 ft wide. A standard SUV or truck is more than 7 ft wide.

Restaurant in Old Town

Issue

The city advertised Old Town as an opportunity to for local businesses and entrepreneurs

Reality

Instead the City picked an established restaurateur and gave him years of free rent using our taxes. This "rent" is paid to a commissioner's family.
